Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Crumbtrail (“the Service”), operated by Crumbtrail Press (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate information when creating your account.
• Keeping your password secure and not sharing your account with others.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Promptly notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Accounts registered by bots or automated methods are not permitted.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
• Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or malicious code.
• Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service using automated means without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm any person.
• Publish false, defamatory, or misleading information about real places or people.
• Create multiple accounts for abusive or fraudulent purposes.
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent.

“User Content” means the collections, places, notes, photos, and other content you create or upload to the Service.

You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and process your User Content solely to provide and improve the Service.

You represent and warrant that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights (including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights) and complies with these Terms.

You may choose to make a collection public or “remixable.” By doing so:

• Your collection title, places, and associated metadata will be visible to anyone with the link or to logged-in users browsing public collections.
• If remixable, other users may duplicate your collection as a starting point for their own. They do not inherit your ownership or privacy settings.
• You can change a collection's visibility to private at any time. Previously duplicated copies are not affected.

Digital exports (PDF/PNG)

Export files are generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. We do not store the generated PDF or PNG on our servers. You may use export files for personal, non-commercial printing and sharing.

Physical products (planned feature)

In the future, Crumbtrail may enable ordering of physical products (raised pin maps, laser-cut art, 3D prints) fulfilled by a third-party partner. When this feature launches:

• Orders are fulfilled by a third-party fabrication partner, not directly by Crumbtrail.
• Shipping times, quality, and refund policies will be those of the fulfillment partner.
• Fabrication files (SVG, DXF, STL) generated by Crumbtrail are provided for personal use only and may not be resold.

Free tier

The Free tier is available without payment and includes a limited set of features as described on our pricing page.

Pro subscription

• Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually, in advance, via Stripe.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time from your Profile & Settings page.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. You retain Pro features until then.
• Prices are listed in USD. Applicable taxes may be added depending on your location.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at billing@crumbtrail.co within 14 days of the charge.

All software, templates, design assets, and content created by Crumbtrail — including print template layouts, UI, and brand assets — are owned by Crumbtrail Press and protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our templates or brand assets without written permission.

“Crumbtrail” and associated logos are trademarks of Crumbtrail Press.

The Service integrates with third-party services including Stripe (payments), Foursquare or similar APIs (place search), OpenStreetMap (map tiles), and Azure (hosting). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or actions of third-party services.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, or to discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED.

Place data accuracy: We do not guarantee the accuracy of addresses, coordinates, or place information. Verify independently before relying on any place data.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CRUMBTRAIL PRESS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario unless otherwise agreed.

We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
